Unhappy with your IT company?
Switching is simpler than you think.
The biggest reason GTA businesses stay with an underperforming MSP is fear of disruption. Here's the reality: a well-managed transition causes less disruption than staying with a provider that's letting you down every month.
CG Technologies — by the numbers
Signs it’s time to make a change
If you recognise more than two of these, the question isn’t whether to switch — it’s how to do it cleanly
- Response times have slipped. Tickets that used to get resolved in an hour now take a day. Or you've started chasing your MSP for updates rather than the other way around.
- You don't know what you're paying for. The monthly bill is predictable but the service isn't. Things break, invoices appear for work that sounds like it should have been included, and nobody explains why.
- Security has been an afterthought. Your MSP monitors your systems but can't tell you what EDR platform they use, when you last had a vulnerability assessment, or what would happen if ransomware hit tomorrow morning.
- You've outgrown them. They were a good fit when you had 10 people. You now have 40 and their team, tools, and processes haven't scaled with you. Complex projects get delayed or deprioritised.
- The relationship feels transactional. Nobody from your IT company knows your business. You explain the same context every call. There's no strategic input, just ticket resolution.
- You've been acquired or merged. A new parent company bought your MSP and service quality dropped. The people you knew left. The new team doesn't know your environment.
The concerns we hear most often
Every business we’ve onboarded had at least one of these worries before they switched. Here’s the honest answer to each.
How the switch works
Our onboarding process is documented, tested, and designed to make the transition invisible to your team
-
1
Free assessment — no commitment required
We start with a conversation about your current environment, what’s working, what isn’t, and what you need from an IT partner going forward. No sales pressure. No obligation to proceed. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you.
Typically 45–60 minutes -
2
Contract and notice period review
Before you sign anything with us, we help you review your existing MSP contract. We check notice periods, auto-renewal clauses, and exit terms so there are no surprises. Most GTA MSP contracts require 30–90 days notice.
Done before you commit to us -
3
Network discovery and documentation
Our technical team maps your entire environment — hardware inventory, software licences, network topology, user accounts, cloud tenants, and existing security tools. This documentation becomes the foundation of your IT management with us. We do this work; your team doesn’t need to be heavily involved.
Typically 5–10 business days -
4
Parallel coverage period
CG begins monitoring and supporting your environment while your outgoing provider is still active. This overlap period — typically 2–4 weeks — eliminates any coverage gap. Your staff has two numbers to call, but in practice they start calling ours because response times are better from day one.
Zero downtime, zero gaps -
5
Full handover and tool deployment
We deploy our monitoring agent, security stack (Huntress, Bitdefender, Fortinet, Duo), and helpdesk integration across your environment. Passwords are rotated, old MSP access is revoked, and your documentation is finalised. Most of this happens remotely without touching individual workstations.
Typically completed within 30 days -
6
First 30-day intensive support period
The first month after full handover includes extra check-ins, faster response SLAs, and a dedicated account review at the 30-day mark. We use this period to identify anything the previous provider missed, resolve any outstanding issues, and establish your IT roadmap going forward.
Enhanced support as standard
What changes when you switch to CG Technologies
Based on what businesses typically report before and after switching
| Area | With a reactive MSP | With CG Technologies |
|---|---|---|
| Security stack | Basic antivirus or unnamed endpoint tool; no MDR or SOC monitoring | Huntress MDR + Bitdefender + Fortinet + Duo MFA — named, enterprise-grade, actively monitored |
| Response times | Hours or next-day for most issues; emergency response undefined | Under 2 hours for emergency on-site; standard helpdesk responded to same day |
| Billing surprises | Hidden add-ons, per-device extras, project fees that weren’t scoped | Clear monthly rate, written scope of what’s included vs. project work — agreed upfront |
| Documentation | Environment knowledge lives in one technician’s head; lost when staff turns over | Full environment documentation maintained in Hudu — accessible and updated continuously |
| Proactive work | Reactive — issues found when they cause outages | NinjaOne RMM monitors and patches continuously; most issues resolved before you notice |
| Strategic input | No roadmap; technology decisions made reactively | Quarterly business reviews, IT roadmap, and vCIO guidance aligned to your growth |
| Contract terms | Auto-renewing annual contracts; exit fees; 90-day lock-in | No punitive exit fees; straightforward notice period; 95% stay because the service is good |
